I've gotta say, the way to go is definately farming Underworld or Fissure of Woe. It's the most consistent. If you're doing that and still not making enough, then you're either doing it wrong or not enough.

Farming for a couple platinum to buy other prestige armor is easy peasy. Farming for FoW requires a bit of time investment. You can get it in a week if you're desperate enough by cutting out showers and keeping chips near your computer.

Although I dont have fow, to get lotsa cash relatively fast, make sure you minimize expediture, maximize profits. Dont keep blowing 5k's all over the place for cheap armor, weaps, greens etc. Try and use normal ID kits and expert salvage kits, as they work out cheaper than the superior versions, and every little helps over time

Use the xunlai tournament house. thats about 100k/ month on average for me, and I've been doing it for a few months now. If you hurry, you should be able to get your predictions in for this month.

Usually, I only ever solo farm on event weekends, but DoA runs are fun ( for me at least), and a full one in NM is around 50k for 2 or so hours. HM is even more, but I havent tried one yet :P I wouldnt bother with UW, because there are so many groups that have bad people and fail 10 mins in, resulting in a waste of money. FoW is okay, but you'd probabaly only break even due to cons even if you sold the shards. There is a small chance of 100k+e drops though, so if you're feeling lucky.....

The best way is often to farm the source. If you can consistently farm ecto or shards in 1-2 man groups, you can get armor fairly fast.

I have to agree with this as a good way of making money, especially if you like playing with other people. With armbraces selling for 100k + 20-30e you can get all the ectos you need after selling 3. Running DoA in Hard Mode will increase the drop rate of the gemstones you need. You say you '55' so I guess you've a monk which means that getting into a DoA party will be simple as you don't need a Norn (Ursan) rank to get in.

This assumes that you have access to DoA. Another way to make gold if you have DoA unlocked and have EoTN is to sell 'Consumables'. I solo farm areas that drop the materials needed to craft these and crafting costs 250g per item for each of the 3 consumable items that people want the most, and this set of 3 sells for 7k at DoA. 750g -> 7000g is nice profit.

i'm surprised no one has asked this yet.

what do you spend your money on? depending on what and how you buy other stuff, you may be able to save yourself a lot of money.

While the OP is wondering why everyone is able to get FoW-Armor, I'm wondering how it could be possible these days to NOT get FoW-Armor if you want to.
Seriously, Ectos at 3.6k or something, Obsis also very cheap, hell, everything is on an all time low.

How comes? Well, easy answer: PvE / PvP Skill Split. Anet dug a fine deep grave for the GW economy by shuffling everything they had into the whining PvE Community (I am a PvEer myself, but I tend to use my brain once in while to actually think about solutions to nerfs and not whine until I get what I want on a silver plate)

To stay on topic: Just farm once in a while or do some titles, grab everything that lies on the ground (white stuff, too) and I usually also id every white item, except for Ascalon-Region whites. All white items become more valuable if you id it. Also I never use Superior Identification Kits, so I always save 25% on that too. I do this since I started playing. Those things seem to do little to nothing to preserve money, but it accumulates over time.

Oh and of course do not spend your money on overpriced fancy weapons, just go with your collector stuff or cheap stuff.

Default How To:

Determine need from want. Stop buying things you do not need. Pick everything up and merch it/salv it into materials, with the basic salv kit, then merch. You should be entering zones with as empty of bags as possible. Read up on areas others frequently farm and the builds they use. Farm.

Or alternativly just go and raid the UW/FOW for a few months. TAKE MONEY INTO UW AND FOW. Let the party know if they do get a shard/ecto drop that, if they are going to sell it, that you will buy it for fair value, when you are not in combat/busy(only anounce this 1 time dont be a tard and spam on every drop, be honorable that is thier drop not yours.). There are also a few solo builds for specific areas in UW/FOW that you can farm, be warned now it will normally take a beginner around 10-20k to be profecient at a solo run. This is how I have gotten 1 full set and a few peices on different charecters. My 1st set I bought 1 peice at a time over 3 months of raiding/soloing the UW/FOW (This was before factions).

tiers to wealth:
100k - the 1st benchmark often the hardest to get.
250k - getting there keep up the good work(this is the "nest egg")
500k - 2nd benchmark difficult to not spend
750k - in my opinion this is the highest tier
1000k - now you are at max storage capacity and are now limited to 100k per charecter. Really rather pointless unless you are planning to buy a REALLY expensive NOT needed Item.

I have only ever hit the 750k tier 1 time, I tend to drift between 250k-600k, But I always keep that 250k safe and sound.

i did DoA runs, got armbrace and sold it, there you have some ectos
a good tip, buy your top first that's the most expensive, then it'll feel more smoothly
you can still go do VwK UW
and still
ectos are cheap now, when i had to buy my fow it was alot more tougher with the ecto price that was still stable

Mostly pretty good advice...but I'll add one option: If you own EotN, there are quite a few high-end items in chests at the end of some dungeon runs. Do your homework, make an appropriate build (hone it, tinker with it, make it yours)...and run that dungeon until you know it like your momma's face! Do it in HM and use as few consumables as possible...H/H it and after a few runs you might get lucky and get the "jackpot". For me, Bogroot Growths...43 runs and my payout has been 150k in drops and salvagables, nothing in chests (I don't bother with my luck and lockpicks), a few 5-15k items sold at LA, and 85k for a req10 fire Frog Scepter, and another 100K+Xe if I choose to sell my req9 blood Frog Scepter...All-in-all, well over 250k playing casually over two weeks...dungeon-running has been profitable for me.

EDIT: By "casually", I mean 2-3hrs a day x2 on weekends...about 45min-1hr per run.

OK for those of us that do not want the UW and are not ursan what is a man to do? Well kill snow wurms outside of Borials Station.

You can kill 13 of them in under 3 minutes in NM or 10 of them in 5 minutes in Hard mode (eye of the north expansion if you were wondering where.)

Each kill will net you over 100 gold if gold is dropped. Also there are Lockpicks that are dropped. Sell them for 1200 gold each. Also every single white that is dropped is worth a minimum of 50 gold at the Merchant. You can save the golds or identify them for the title and sell the mods.

A Forget Me Not 20% is 20K easy and sundering is common on most drops and they are generally max in hard mode.

You can average well over 6K an hour without blinking an eye in hard mode. I identify everything especially the off hand golds.

Hope this helps

I've had well over 10mil gold, which really isn't much and I've never been dumb enough to spend real money on this game :\

The only real money makers now a days are DoA to get gemsets and inscr rare skin weapons, Zkeys, and running difficult areas or missions. Pretty much any popular farm will give you a respectable amount of cash over time but if you want the stupidly expensive items you aren't going to get that kind of money any time soon from something like raptors.

I've made enough just on quests and missions, but I also pool all the money on my characters. They individually never carry anything but immediately put it into storage so I can get what I immediately want quicker. Chest drops, and zkeys also get a bit of gold in the bank.

That said though, FoW armour is fugly...you sure you want it? :S
